For Wednesday, read Steve Fraser's article, "Wall Street State of Mind." Think about how it connects to our discussion about status and how ideas about status have changed in recent history.
Also look at these posts from the website Gawker where workers talk about their experiences working there. (The link takes you to part three; look also at parts one and two.) Think about the common themes that come up in these stories and how they relate to the issues we've discussed as well as to Mike's experiences outlined in Terkel.
No written assignment for Wednesday, but be ready to discuss these readings and think about what you want to write about in your essay. Look for my comments on your post about Mike Rose's essay.
